Through cleanliness and purity of body and mind (saucha), comes a purification of the subtle mental essence (sattva), a pleasantness, a one-pointedness, mastery over the senses, and a capability for self-realization. — Patanjali

It is Grandmother’s wisdom that a clean space supports a clean mind. Cleanliness is a fundamental necessity to live a yogic life, yet it can be easily overlooked. Imagine the difference between walking into a dirty room and one that is spotlessly clean. How does each one feel? A clean space expands us, while a messy environment contracts us. This same principle applies to both our bodies and minds.

By keeping your surroundings pleasant, free from clutter, and organized in a natural way, you experience a sense of spaciousness. This has a soothing effect on your senses and provides you with a feeling of calm. Energetically, a pure and clean environment will support you to turn inwards with less disturbance.

Look at what areas of your life need to be cleansed and make a commitment to taking the necessary actions. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Create your life in such a way that you would invite the Divine to come and stay.
