YTT

Lead Society In Healing With The TRU Yoga Teacher Training (YTT)

A 200hr Certification Experience in Costa Rica to strengthen your skills as a leader and deepen your understanding of ancient practices to foster real inner transformation within yourself and your students.

“Every awakened yogi will have an immense impact upon the consciousness of humanity. Individually, each of us can discover the source of bliss within, develop our one-pointedness, find a flow in our movement and, in the midst of the world, abide in our center and exude the power of stillness and clarity. An integrated yoga practice can offer this to us.”

– ZAMIR DHANJI, FOUNDER OF THE MYSTIC YOGI

Yoga is a subtle science that works on the different facets of our human experience – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

The path of a yoga teacher training course is more than just learning how to teach a one hour yoga class, it is about embodying yoga and empowering others to heal and learn about the deeper dimensions of life. It is about strengthening and deepening your understanding of the yogic teachings, practices and culture to guide your students on their own path.

If you’re ready to:

  • Open your mind to ancient teachings and decolonized methods of yoga practice;
  • Put in the work and step into the role of a student so you can be a better teacher; and
  • Bring the practice of yoga back to its origins, discover contemporary applications of the inner sciences, and heal society through connectedness…

This unique YTT is created to guide you on this journey.

This Is More Than a Yoga Teacher Certification Program

Join us for a 4-week live experience in Costa Rica to transform yourself the healing power of yoga.

Thoughtfully designed to deepen your own understanding of yoga, strengthen your practice and enhance your ability to lead your students to greater connectedness, the TRU Yoga Certification (YTT) will provide you with an experience that is:

Holistic

Train in Hatha and Raja Yoga, while integrating the 5 knowledge streams of: Yogic Body, Vedic Mind, Sufi Heart, Indigenous Relationship and Zen Living.

Spiral

The concepts and skills explored will progressively build upon each other, adding layers of depth and complexity that are experienced organically.

Immersive

We learn and practice together as a family, devoted to self-cultivation with kindness and integrity. Immersion is the best way to instill the practice in a supportive setting.

Another billion people doing downward dog won’t create a revolution in society, but even if a portion of those people begin a genuine yoga practice, the impact will be significant.

What is the TRU Yoga approach?

The acronym TRU stands for The Resonance of Unity.

Yoga means union, and is both a path, practice and realization of Oneness. Through yoga we learn to create a harmonious resonance between body, mind and spirit, which brings about continuous insights into how life operates. Through self-knowledge, we can heal ourselves and create the life we want, while living in service to the whole.

The more we practice, we discover that yoga itself is the teacher; only through the experience of yoga can it really be known. As instructors, it is our role to always seek greater understanding and utilize this wisdom to guide others on their inner path.

By showing up as a student, even as we instruct, we are opening the doors to greater connection, understanding and unity in the world. With the TRU Yoga approach, you embody connection beyond the constraints of westernized yoga and step into your purpose as a true guiding light.

Become a great yoga teacher by learning to be a great student; understand the philosophy behind the practice of yoga

3 Interconnected Modules for Enhancing Your Yoga Practice

Our training will be divided into three modules that cover the foundations for a holistic yoga teacher training. All modules will be interconnected and weaved throughout your journey to certification for true integration.

9. Svadhyaya

Module 1: Anatomy of Practice

Just like the different parts of the body work together to form our anatomy, yoga has an anatomy of its own. Understanding it gives us the “why, how and what” of yoga practice. By experiencing how yoga asana, chanting, pranayama, meditation, philosophy connect to the greater systems of yoga, a huge ‘aha’ moment happens for you.

We begin by working with each of the parts and understanding their significance and how to practice them. It’s not about memorization or ritual, it’s about a personal experience of the underlying energy and intent of the practices…once you get that, you can begin to make it your own.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Develop a holistic practice that integrates yoga asana, pranayama, chanting, meditation and contemplation.

De-colonize the commercial and sexualized idea of yoga, understanding it as both an indigenous & transcendent spirituality.

Understand the 8 limbs as a blueprint for the yoga journey of cultivating ethics, training the mind and realizing the Self.

Discover key historical figures and teachings from Yoga sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads and other spiritual traditions

23. Gunas-min

Module 2: Soma and Psyche

Soma means “body”, and Psyche means “mind”. They refer to an understanding of the body and mind as a whole organism with interconnected parts. In this module you will deepen your understanding of yoga through contributions from the fields of buddhist psychology, somatic psychotherapy, physics, biology and neuroscience.

Receive teachings on the nervous system, polyvagal theory, interoception and different strategies for self-regulation. You will understand how thoughts, feelings, sensations, attitudes and beliefs systems have an impact on physical well-being.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Able to lead somatic practices to regulate the nervous system

Explore how core beliefs are formed and determine our self-concept

Understand how our triggers and traumas influence our perception of safety

Overview of the chakra system from both a biological and psychological approach

26. Guru-min

Module 3: Art of Teaching

To teach is to learn. You will accelerate your integration and competency by learning how to teach from the inside-out. Learn the key methods for teaching and designing a Holistic Yoga class that includes mantra, pranayama, warm-ups, asana, savasana and meditation.

We create a fine balance of solo exploration, group practice, lecture, demonstration and private instruction. The intention is for you to start to discover your unique presence as a Yoga teacher, and develop the confidence to lead transformational Yoga classes.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Understand how to teach postures using verbal cues, observation and demonstration of techniques

Create a safe teaching space in your Yoga classes through classroom set-up, boundaries, and language

Develop technical skills to teach, and deliver classes with creativity and passion

Learn key modification for postures to work with a diverse population of students

“Zamir’s training is a wealth of information that is accessible and relevant to all with texts, discussion, and asanas to help incorporate the teachings. Yoga teachers who have learned about the 8 limbs of yoga in their training can find a renewed understanding; students who are new to the practice can find a clear introduction to the concepts.”

– Ally, Yoga teacher & school instructor

Meet Your Guide: Zamir Dhanji

Zamir’s hatha yoga training was influenced by a number of teachers – particularly Swami Sivananda and Donna Farhi – and he completed his 500 hr teacher training under David Goulet in Chakra Yoga. This approach provides a holistic understanding of the body-mind system rooted in modern science…which also corroborates the knowledge of ancient yogis.

He served as an instructor in yoga asana, pranayama, meditation and yoga philosophy for the Langara College yoga teacher training program, teaching both in Vancouver and internationally. He’s trained in Compassionate Inquiry, a somatic-based psychotherapy developed by Dr. Gabor Mate, which informs his healing work as both a yoga teacher and holistic counselor.

He has co-created a program for healing attachment trauma called “Patterns to Presence”, with behavioural scientist Sabrina Lakhani.

He studies Ati-Yoga under Wisdom Master Maticintin, founder of HUMUH : Clear Mind Buddhism and his spiritual teacher for the last decade, spending extended periods in the monastery studying meditation, buddhist logic and doing karma yoga.

In 2020 he founded Mystic Yogi and published The Inner Path, a yoga philosophy practice deck with stunning art and contemporary guidance for yoga seekers looking to integrate the 8 limbs of yoga into their life.

Assistant Instructor: Marie Boisvert

Marie rooted her Yoga training in 2008 through the Sivananda Organization in traditional Hatha Yoga with a 200 hour YTT. This turned into a deep dive in a vinyasa-based power yoga 300 hour YTT where she learned the foundations of Ashtanga Yoga, anatomy and creative/informed sequencing.

She continued her lifelong apprenticeship with the Fierce Grace Scholarship awarded by Ryan Lier into a 100 hour Vinyasa-Krama YTT learning how to integrate yoga off the mat and into the world.

In 2019 Marie began her study of Ayurveda attaining100 hours Intro to Ayurveda with Dr. Sonal Bhatt, M.D of Ayurveda from the University of Ayurveda, Jamnagar Ayurvedic University, India. Marie’s work and study continues in the field with a mild obsession of Yoga as a means to regulate our nervous system, and co-exist with our environment.

Mystical Music: Prosad Freeman

Prosad’s journey is the story two worlds merging… the fusion of Eastern Mysticism and meditation with Western creative spirit and energy; where his sitar and guitar dance together creating ecstatic colours of sound and where the inner stillness and outer waves of musical expression collide.

Prosad has spent two decades studying classical Indian Sitar and raga music with multiple teachers and masters. Starting with George Harrison’s Sitar Teacher, Shambhu Das, a direct Disciple of Ravi Shankar and ending with the Master of Masters, Ali Akbar Khan Sahib’s son, Alam Khan. Prosad has performed and recorded with great artists such as Grammy Award winner Chris Berry and Australian legend Xavier Rudd (on his album Spirit Bird).

Inspired greatly by his spiritual teacher, Maestro Tulshi Sen, Prosad has spent years creating a deep understanding of the power of sound to transform and awaken consciousness. Mystics and physicists will both tell us that the world is made of sound and vibration. Being in tune in this way helps us awaken to our highest purpose, deepest happiness and ultimately to realize our full power as divine, creative beings.

Through ancient ragas, Vedic mantras and special tonal frequencies, Prosad helps to facilitate this inward journey of the soul.

Are you ready to lead deeper transformations? More importantly, are you ready to experience one of your own?

“I gained a deeper connection to my steady and peaceful centre, and learnt tools along the path of self-discovery. Zamir’s guidance & wisdom was beautifully poised to deliver this content like a precious jewel and his heart is purely wanting to share this offering with others. A true gift.”
